Hi all,

I asked Dr. Margaret Neville, a human lactation expert, about the question that Kika raised. Here is her answer:

I couldn't find anything on this subject. Oral contraceptives and breast cancer were the most common connection. However, by the time these girls had started oral contraceptive they were likely menstruating which would suggest that the hormonal conditions that lead to ductal growth in the teenager, e.g. estrogen, had already been present for some time and that they were probably secreting their own progesterone which would have had some effect on breast development before the OCs were given. To me it seems unlikely that OCs would have had an effect on breast growth if they were the usual regiment of estrogen and progesterone. But this is only a surmise.
