In my work with moms of critically ill children, it looks like it
really does matter. We use every trick in addition to using the
machines (we call them boob-gyms) that mothers consistently report an
ability to initiate and maintain an appropriate milk supply with. It
looks to me like size and speed of motor do matter in this case, in
addition to all of the supportive behaviors. It's such a challenge
for stressed out mothers that they really do need the proper
equipment or it doesn't work out for the long haul. One person's observation.
