Allyson and everyone else who has responded, thank you to all who have taken the time to respond..
We have templates for the Notes section, that is our "charting." But because it is faxed as a report to outside OBs and Peds, it must be structured as a report rather than facts for ourselves. Old-fashioned paper charting had one form for recording info and a report template to give pertinent info to providers. This all-in-one approach we've been forced to with our transition to EPIC honestly doesn't work well for us. It sounds like some of you have actual separate tabs for lactation. For those who have the time to share, I would love to see screen shots of your flowsheets and note templates-- if that is allowed. We need to know the possibilities to take back to our own EPIC folks. We are very low priority in the system and they aren't going to invest much time in us, but if I can show them something that already works for someone else, they may be more willing to tackle it for us.
Thanks,
Lisa
