Dear colleagues,
I have been teaching 2 breastfeeding classes 4 times per year at the state university (through Work Wellness) for the past 17 years.
I have never been asked for proof of liability insurance until yesterday.
I retired as a Lactation Consultant for WIC 2 years ago so I decided NOT to recertify as an IBCLC last year and discontinued purchasing liability insurance.
I planned to continue teaching as a CLE. Since I earn very little teaching, I hesitate to purchase liability insurance again which will cost 1/4 of
what I earn for the year.
For those of you teaching breastfeeding classes and NOT functioning as a Lactation Consultant, are you required to buy insurance?
If so, could you share who wrote the policy and the cost?
Thanks,
Laura Monin BA, CLE ( IBCLC certified from 1985 through 2016)
