Lip tie is just under the top lip in the middle. In most babies it is thin and set back and no problem. In others it is more fibrous and hold the top lip down, doesn't let it flange out. If not cut or broken by a toddler fall, it will cause the 2 front second teeth to separate (think of Michael Strahan). In some cultures this is considered attractive, in others, the orthodondist corrects it :-( Anyway, it frequently goes along with TT/A and contributes to poor latch and mama pain.
