Obviously, there is a problem with myths about probiotics, and it sounds like the formula companies, once again, are behind a lot of it. I was not aware of that. If moms are thinking they should give formula so the baby can have probiotics, or anyone is saying that probiotics is a cure-all for general breastfeeding problems, or for preventing or treating non-fungal infections, there is a tremendous need for understanding about what they are, what they aren't, and when they can and can't help. I'm not going to stop recommending probiotics supplements when I feel they are appropriate, but I will do more defining of when and how they are useful, and also about finding safe, uncontaminated, sources of supplements.
