Mary,

I'm not an ob or midwife but a CBE. Breastfeeding during a 'normal'
pregnancy has no risks. But now that she is in threatened pre-term labor
this is no longer a normal pregnancy. Once this starts - usually noticing
contractions or usually the not so subtle signs of preterm labor (worked
with moms calling about feeling odd and alll the alarm bells are going off
in my head) moms end up on meds, bed rest and pelvic rest. Meaning no sex -
of any kind - either alone or with a partner, no matter if she was sexually
active before this. Some doctors even tell moms to ignore their breasts in
the shower. Saying nothing has happened before this is only when you have a
mom with a history of miscarriage and/or threatened miscarriage but now she
is in that area of caution and needs to wean until she delivers.

Hope that helps.
