Change in hospitals is so slow as Wendy mentioned, sadly even non existent in many hospitals. BFHI started in early 1990's....where are we today? Big deal, we do STS for one hour and think we've supported beastfeeding. Our biggest stumbling block is the 24-36 hours of non helpful info and lack of support in the hospital. The next block are HCPs, who haven't learned or don't care - Bottles are the answer for every problem and of course they all know that every post partum problem can be blamed on breastfeeding. Some days I think nothing has changed, why all this research if it doesn't bring about change in a timely way?
How do we help the change, why are we only ever preaching to the choir? As Jack N says aaaarrrrggghhh. Pat in SNJ
