I am trying to get used to a new practice of weighing every newborn at 4am every morning throughout the hospital stay. I am comfortable with discharge weight loss percentages and interventions, but am learning how to approach early weight loss.
If your hospital practices daily weights what are the red flag weight loss percentages you get concerned about? What interventions do you consider and do quality of feeds and output factor in when formulating a plan?
For example a newborn with some sleepy feeds but adequate output has a weight loss of 5% in the first 24 hours. What is your plan?
