Sonia, I am interested to know how many babies are seen by an IBCLC? If we went by that policy at our hospital, we would see pretty much everyone. We have a very high epidural rate and IV rate, so our babies are all sleepier in the first 24 hours, and they are all a little "water-logged".
We also discharge patients at 24 hours following a vaginal birth, do your patients stay in hospital longer?
