Dear Lactnet Friends:
Heather wonders about other similar therapeutic experiences.
In craniosacral therapy, mothers have often told their birthing stories to
me, as I am using the CST techniques on their bodies. (Sometimes the
techniques are as simple as grounding her, through her feet. Dr. Kristen
Svensson spoke of this in her articles, and in a conference presentation.)
Often the baby is s2s during this retelling. I have found this helpful to
boost a mother's commitment to breastfeeding, and to grieve and to release
her experiences.
But having the mother tell the story to the baby takes it up a notch; I am
eager to try this!
warmly,
