 "50% of breastfeeding infants with ankyloglossia will not encounter any
problems and therefore do not require surgical intervention."

The problem with this statement is that the author has a basic
misunderstanding of what constitutes a tie.
We all have some degree of rudimentary oral frena, tissue that did not
completely recede during our development in utero. However, we only call
them ties when they restrict normal movement and function. So of course not
every frenum needs to be treated!
