Those were some good ideas, Pat. I would actually be thinking of diet but not dairy (first be sure it’s a regular cow milk formula baby is on). I usually ask mother what foods that she eats more than others.
I have seen, infrequently, but it does happen, that there is something in the diet that is possibly overwhelming the baby. For example, one mom was finding it hard to eat regular meals, and so she was eating a lot of peanut butter. Another mom had a diet which consisted mostly of sour gummy candies. Another mom drank tons of espresso coffee all day.
I would be looking for possibly some of the common food offenders: dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, fish, nuts etc. Also is she on any food supplements or herbals? Good luck helping her.
