Hello All,
I often find that moms who need to hand express, whether b/c baby hasn't or cannot feed directly yet, need help doing so. It has been my personal experience that many need someone to express for them, at least the first couple of times. Depending upon their condition they may continue to need help.
First of all, I am wondering if nurses and LCs are finding this to be the case in their settings and secondly, if so, do you find that the staff is willing to do this?
To be clear, my goal is to teach new parents how to express and have them do this independently as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance for sharing your experience,
Joan Greenberg RN, IBCLC
