I first joined Lactnet in 1999, and have been hanging here on and off. I
have changed my careers, and I am studying now to become a speech language
pathologist. This is my third year of total five. I should soon write my
candidate exam (about 30 pages, literature review), and my interest is in
feeding difficulties infants may have at breast, though I haven't set my
subject yet.
Infant feeding difficulties at breast - What would be your favourite
resources, names, researches, scientific articles, books etc about feeding
difficulties and how to overcome those difficulties (evaluation,
rehabilitation). KellyMom and similar websites are not what I am looking
for in this case.
The few names I have in my mind are Joan Arvedson, Suzanne Evans Morris,
Peter Hartman & co, Catherine Watson Genna. Is the old Wolf & Glass still
ok, or is there a newer print or a new similar book?
Unfortunately I have a gap of about six years in my lactation knowledge
(books, latest news etc), when I didn't actively follow Lactnet. What we
have learnt in my slp studies about infant feeding at the lectures is quite
minimal really (bottles were mentioned), and we are supposed to learn more
at work if/when we end up working with infants. If I already didn't know
about breastfeeding, and for example signs of a good latch, I would not be
able to evaluate sucking on the basis of my slp studies. Such a pity, I
think.
I was thinking you might have some specific hints in mind.
This email group has become so much quieter than what it used to be. I
tried to re-join Lactnet facebook group more than a year ago, and contacted
one of the admins, but it didn't work for some reason and I wasn't able to
join :(
