Hello all,
Posting with permission, I have a mom to a 7 month old baby with cleft
palate. Baby has never been able to direct nurse so mom has pumped and has
been blessed with a great supply. Tiring of pumping she cut back and began
using frozen milk but this little guy has quite the discriminating palate
and refuses thawed/warmed milk. (f note mom said milk smells and tastes
sour as well, and though baby did have an ear infection everything else
checks out physically)
She did her own research before contacting me and can only find the same
info no matter how she searches which just refers to scalding. She is
afraid that baby will not get everything he needs if she does this with all
of her frozen milk --that all the good stuff will be lost with scalding. I
told her that bottom line the scalded milk was still going to be better for
baby than ABM, but she would like me to ask if anyone has more information
about increased levels of lipase/sour milk
