One of the advantages to having this conversation prenatally is the opportunity to talk about the fact that breastfeeding is about much, much more than breastmilk. *So* many mothers think they must abandon breastfeeding for lack of 100% milk supply. Where do you draw the line? 30% supply? 50%? 90% Do not let preconceived ideas of the "benefits" of breastfeeding cloud the information you provide.
In my early days as an LLL Leader, I was part of a Group that included 3 or 4 women who were supplementing at breast for various reasons. Not only did these women inspire me with their commitment to their babies and breastfeeding, but I also continue to think they should be the ones teaching how to use at breast supplementers!
