Netters,
I recently got a moving story from one of our fellow netters. She describes
weaning her children early and shared some of her unresolvedness around this.
She lurks on this list. Her post reminds me of how badly I sometimes feel
that I had an epidural. It also reminds me of how important our own
experience is and I thought I'd post the response I sent to her for the
benefit of anyother people feeling simularily.
<<Thanks for sharing your story. I think you illustrate what I have been
feeling: we all want to do what is the absolute very best for our kids. We
are very quick to feel guilt if it is only a little off what we perceive to
be best, or if it doesn't come up to the norm.
From your story I would say that you did your best, and heeded the desires of
your second son! That is important too.
LACTNET is wonderful. But even having nursed my kids 3.5 and 2 years,
sometimes when I read someone who breastfed 4 years, I think "I wish I did
that!" I need to remind myself that I did what I thought was best, and so
did the kids, and so did the mom who bfed for 5 years and the ones who did
for 1 month...
I hope you and all the others who didn't bfed for years feel free to delurk.
Your experiences are valuable to all of us!
Thanks for sharing!
