I once saw something that sounds similar. Mom was expressing milk around day 2 or so and it was dark brown, like a strong tea. I don’t recall the consistency being foamy. We surmised she had an intraductal papilloma, and not “rusty pipe syndrome,” since all the colostrum she expressed from this one breast over the course of several days was the same unusual tea color. Her nurse even left a small sample of it at the nurses’ station as a teaching moment for the other staff.
