Lack of bowel movements in the first week or so merits careful
weighing, to check the baby is transferring milk.
If weight shows the baby is thriving, then I don't think this is a
problem. It will resolve. It's within normal for young babies to
sometimes react with a bit of apparent fussiness when they feel
'action down below' :) As long as everything else is normal and the
stools when they come are normal, and CRUCIALLY, the weight shows the
baby is thriving, then not a concern, IMO.
It *definitely* does not merit a dose of karo syrup or brown sugar -
*what* is the doctor thinking?!
