An established lactation is not interrupted so easily.
It is more effective that the mother reduces the number of feedings and their duration. at the same time it can increase the amount of artificial milk. the process will decrease production.
Anecdotally and poorly proven, furosemide is limited along with water restriction to suppress lactation (Cominos 1976). Furosemide does not reduce prolactin levels (Kalk 1977).
Despite some ancient studies, there is no scientific evidence of diuretics reducing breast milk production (Rowe 2013).
