Eva,

Thank you so much for posting this article. It is the most well-written, informed, and enlightening pieces I have read on the topic. Throughout the article, Dr. Hazelbaker points to the importance of evidence-based practice (using what she refers to as "solid evidence") when approaching any and all lactation concerns. She also mentions how body-work can help resolve tongue or lip restriction. While I am incredibly intrigued by the concept of bodywork and have certainly seen anedecdotal evidence that it can be effective, I have tried and failed to find any solid research studies that support its use.

Often I hear lactation consultants speak of referring patients for "bodywork" but as I have not found any quality research studies that address its efficacy in the realm of lactation, I still hesitate to recommend it to my patients. I would greatly appreciate some insight from the community-- what sorts of bodywork, if any, have research to support its use in our field. If the evidence is solely anecdotal, can we still recommend it to our patients?

Many thanks in advance,

Alexandra Walker BSN, RN, IBCLC
