PTP: Mom with a 5 year old (not nursing) and nursing 16 month old with dx
of viral stomatitis. Both kids ran fevers as well. MD has prescribed
antibiotics (?). And that is all the guidance given. 5 yr old and 16 month
old both have oral lesions. Mom now has them on her nipples and is in
extreme pain.

What's the point of antibiotics for a viral illness? Since both mom and
toddler are already infected I would guess nursing can continue if mom can
handle the pain (I am assuming it is painful for the toddler as well?)

What options/suggestions can I offer? I was thinking APNO would at least
help with pain?
Thanks,
Michele
