If mom is eating sufficient calories (2200-270000 on whatever diet she is on and sufficient protein (65/day) I wouldn't think it would affect her milk supply. Americans tend to overeat protein (think of all the advertising on protein!). A malnourished mother can still provide sufficient milk for her baby - at the expense of her own body.
