Following on my posting about how other organizations such as NCT do their 
annual surveys of qualified counsellors, the details of the ongoing 
education events such as study days, conferences and workshops had to be 
included as well as proof of attendance.  In Israel we have been fortunate 
in having some of the best international childbirth educators, doulas and 
lactation consultants visiting us for conferences.  And in the days when I 
could afford it, I also attended conferences and workshops overseas.  This 
is not to diminish the value of a locally run workshop where we can focus on 
local and cultural issues.  Unfortunately I have heard of IBCLC qualified 
counsellors who passed their exams very successfully but we never see them 
at any study events.
