Morning all,
I'm following the marijuana thread with some interest, because I
don't know the answer, and don't really have a firm opinion of my
own. So many have raised so many good points, especially about the
short or long-term effects on the breastfed baby of THC in the
mother's milk. But I don't think anyone has raised the question
about the mother's competence to handle/care for the baby during the
time that she might be high. Wouldn't we have concerns about this
that are similar to the questions we would ask of a mother's
competence when she might be well over the limit for alcohol? As
someone who did partake in my (mis-spent?) youth, the effect of
smoking pot is far far stronger and disorientating than having had a
drink or three too many.....and someone put forward the theory that
it's even stronger now - egads, I'd hate to think.....
