My oldest child. daughter Kay (a Maternity nurse, who has listened to me promote breastfeeding for 50+ years:-), gave me a tee shirt- circle of flowers with a tiny mom and BF baby at top. inside circle it says Support Changes Everything. I love the saying! What we need in the US is in-home follow up after we send moms home after a day or 2 (3 for csec).
I 've joked about drive thru deliveries, but I think some experts would love to try that, without any follow up support of course.
I know home visits for support would be expensive, but think of all that would be saved in baby health, mother health, hospital costs and so on.
sorry I'm getting philosophical. I've been working in the CBI RL files and frankly I'm slow at filing because I stop and read the articles. The latest one to catch my eye is"An account of significant events influencing Australian breastfeeding practice over the last 40 years". 2011, Robyn Thompson, Women & Birth. very sad, and the same thing has happened in the US. 103 references I'm going to check and see how many we have :-)
Take care, stay well, Pat in SNJ
