Hello all,

I have 2 clients with persistent blebs.

1) Client #1 developed a plugged duct at week 9. A bleb appeared shortly thereafter. She is now 16 weeks postpartum. Bleb isn't responding to soaks, olive oil soaked cotton pads, lecithin, picking at it. She develops a plugged duct every 3-4 days in the same area. She finally went to ultrasound therapy 2 days ago and the duct has remained cleared since but the bleb is still there.

2) Client #2 - I helped her when babe was a newborn. Mom developed a bleb early on which lasted 9 months but never caused her pain. She worked on it initially but gave up since it didn't hurt and it wasn't causing any reduction in flow from that breast.

I just received this email (PTP) from her -- her daughter is about 18 months old.

"now I have 4 milk blisters on my one nipple. It is so painful. I'm
actually starting to think they are not milk blisters after all,
but I just can't imagine what else they would be.

The pain and # of them comes and goes (mostly comes though), and often (and currently), I have 3 or 4 of them and my nipple is super swollen. I
also almost always have shooting pains in my breast. Like constantly. I
have Raynaud's and I do think that I have had vasospasm pain and
whiteness on my nipples very often. So maybe it's just that.

A couple of months ago I went to my OB's office and midwife
saw me. He thought I had thrush, cultured it, and it came back negative. He said something about it not being a milk blister but a bunch of
pooled white blood cells. He pulled off the skin with a needle, got some of the stuff out, it bled horribly and hurt, but after a few days it
felt a million times better. But of course it comes back.

The thing is, no remedy has ever worked on my blisters (epsom salt, hot
water soak, olive oil cotton ball, etc) and I can't really ever get to
them. I use my nails and needles, etc and they are just so deep down
there, or there is so much skin growing over them, that I just can't get to them.

What do I do??!! I need to have them deroofed again with a needle and I was
wondering if you know of anyone who would do this and who is really familiar with these types of problems. The midwife
wanted me to start using all purpose nipple ointment "just in case" it
was thrush while we waited for results, but I didn't and I don't like
someone telling me to use some antibiotic stuff when we don't even know
if I need it. I was hoping to find someone with a different philosophy,
do you know what I mean?"

Have any of you seen these types of blebs? what finally worked to get rid of them?

Thank you!!

Be well,
