In my facility, we have changed to a breast milk scanning system. Prior to its implementation, we use a 2 person check that could be RN, CNA, Respiratory Therapist, Student practitioner, MD, or parent. The initials of each person (or "parent") were noted in the chart identifying that the correct milk was prepared and fed to the correct infant. In California, human donor breast milk is classified as tissue and requires a license to use and dispense (my understanding).
Hope this helps..
