Thank you Anne for your response. After Norma suggested it might be some kind of keratosis I found something interesting in Journal of the Turkish Academy of Dermatology. Its called Nevoid Hyperkeratosis of the Nipple and Areola. It is described in the journal as irregular, verrucous thickening and yellow brown hyper pigmentation of the nipple and/or areola. It typically affects women in the second and third decades of life, especially during pregnancy. It mentioned that due to its asymptomatic nature, it can often be overlooked. I am going to send what I have found to her and suggest she a dermatology.
