I joined LACTNET 18 or 19 years ago, as soon as I heard about it. I was feeling pretty much alone in the LC world, with no other LCs nearby. It meant the world to me to be able to connect with LCs internationally! I have continued to read LACTNET almost every day since, and I would hate to lose it.
In the early years I did post some, but was taken aback by some “strongly worded” private responses I received. Since then, I have been comfortable to mostly just read. Nevertheless, I continue to learn from and enjoy LACTNET. It is a vital connection for me to what is going on with breastfeeding all around the world. Without it, I might fall into the trap of thinking that my experience represents everyone’s experience.
Deep in my closet I still have a “Latch-on to LACTNET” t-shirt purchased at an ILCA conference many years ago. It doesn’t fit anymore, but I just can’t give it up!
