I have a patient who has been breastfeeding normally for 2 months. Good
full breasts on both sides with slightly higher supply on the left side.
Last week she woke up to find the left side completely deflated. On exam,
the breast is well perfused, the nipple is pink, the breast is warm, there
is no skin changes, or lumps or new discharge. The breast looks like a
deflated balloon, whereas the right breast is normal, full and round. Mom
reports the left breast looked the same the days before. No recollection of
any trauma or inefficient feeding on the left side. Always uses both
breasts each feeding equally. Anyone have any experience with this??
