To put in my 2 cents re Bonnie Pockat's post of July 7 (will I EVER catch
up???) - from the note at the end, that this mom "tends to have her
problems [with plugged ducts] after her 2 working days", I would tend to
think that this mom, even if apparently successful with pumping, has
a much more successful MER when with her baby. I tell moms that their
baby is the best "pump" possible. Some moms are more closely attached to
their babies than others, and may have somatic guilt reactions to pumping
in that they unconsciously hold back on MER, and this may lead to plugged
ducts. Problem is, I don't have a solution for this mom, IF THIS IS THE
CASE, aside from (1) bringing baby to work to nurse, or leaving work to
go to baby, (2) explain to mom what may be happening, and have her image
nursing baby by thinking intensively about baby, hypnotizing herself,
kind of, while pumping. Good luck. Judy K
