I'm interested in how other hospitals are meeting the 5 hours of required supervised clinical experience for Baby Friendly. Over the years our staff has had a lot of training in positioning, counseling, hand expression etc. All new hires spent anywhere from 4-12 hours with an LC during their orientation. The trouble is we never really documented the training very well and it is a hodgepodge of orientation, competencies and other trainings. We have about 70 RN's to train. Is any part of the 5 hours allowed to be a lab simulation or does it all have to be floor time with an LC and actual patients? For those who have been through it, how did you meet that 5 hour requirement? Thanks for your help, Mandy Schaub
