My 3 daughters all caught wild chicken pox many years ago in the early 1980s. My oldest had a very mild case when she was under 2 and still nursing. She caught it again when her younger sisters got it 9 years later and had such a severe case she experienced significant facial scaring. All 3 of them caught mono (a type of herpes virus) in adolescence, 2 of them were severely ill with it. My youngest developed shingles in her 20s. All 3 were breastfed for extended periods (2.5, 4.5, and 5.5 years respectively.) I wish I could have immunized them because their subsequent experiences with this virus family were horrible.
