I know this is a really late response, but when I just posted another reply, I noticed that I apparently saved this as a draft, and when I meant to send this.
Go to this web site: <www.sharontrotter.org.uk>
Sharon Trotter is a midwife (in the UK) who specializes in breastfeeding and neonatal skin care. You can find her articles (both in professional journals and for the general public) on her site. She advocates water-only bathing (no soap) for the first month, and sites research to support it. I am in the US, but from her articles, delayed bathing and water-only neonatal bathing seems much more prevalent in the UK than in the US. I'd be curious if there are members of this list in the UK who could comment. Sharon Trotter links to her email on her web site and encourages emails <[log in to unmask]> so I would email her if you need more information.
