Looked in old versions of WAB and couldn't find it, but I know I heard it from LLL. I started going to the conferences every 5 years (about 1970) and I may have heard it there. The WABs don't say lamb, just meat, as first foods for iron.
Over the years I've used this suggestion a few times, saves what breastfeeding mom is doing and allows baby to gain, prevents weaning. Sometimes has been useful for the mom, who is back to work, unable to pump needed volume, for whatever reason. Some solids can tide baby over until mom gets home. Pat in SNJ
