Also look at any medicines the baby is taking. Liquid medicines are 
mostly sugar, and will promote tooth decay if the family does not brush 
the baby's teeth immediately afterward. One family in my practice 
recently realized their child's "nursing caries" started when they 
started giving acetaminophen drops and ended when they started brushing 
with xylitol toothpaste and eliminated the sugary medicine, while 
continuing ad lib breastfeeding.
