One of the issues with mammary ductal infection/dysbiosis is that if the
infection is still present at the time of the next pregnancy, it will
continue into the next pregnancy and lactation cycle. I tell women who
have this to make sure the infection is gone, ie no further pain, before
they become pregnant again. This is mainly relevant to women who are
still nursing when they become pregnant.
In the dairy industry, they cull (slaughter) the cows when they have
this because they don't 100% dry the cows up before they get pregnant
again, so once they have the infection it won't go away. The milk is
considered of lesser quality, so they cut their losses and send the cows
to market.

I kept thinking it was a plugged duct since my last child had just weaned, but no other signs of that. Continued after he was born , between pregnancies and again with next pregnancy and after. Had biopsy in that area when twins were 18 months old. Would come and go with cycles between births. I suppose it could have been a sub clinical infection, how would I know. Gone now about 10 years.
