I really appreciate the perspective you gave me. I think there is absolutely something to be said about the environmental factors contributing to this baby's struggles with latching. Now that I think of it, I have gotten hints from the mother in conversations, and I think I’ll gently have her explore them further. Thank you!



Laurie, I also really love the way you suggested wording my advice by putting responsibility on the physiology of our bodies and not necessarily my recommendations. And of course, the more empathy the better.  Must think less like a clinician and more like a cheerleader (who happens to love the topic of breastfeeding).
