Yes, we are striving to get moms to exclusively BF for about 6 mo. Yes, many moms are trying to accomplish that. Yes, many moms are introducing foods earlier than 6 mo.
Gee whiz, I fed cereal at 2 weeks several generations ago and it has taken many years to correct that, just as it will take many years to get most to see that 6 mo exclusive is a better goal.
and yes, her milk supply and total duration may be compromised, but look at what she has accomplished with her preterm baby! Look at how many months of breast milk that this baby has gotten, that not too many years ago she wouldn't have gotten at all. I'm just saying put this one baby in perspective of all babies and keep your fingers off the keyboard. :-) Pat in SNJ
