People were up in arms when this was first reported the other day. It appears that this case needs a more nuanced evaluation than it got at first. It was first reported as though the US Supreme Court had ruled, when they had not. They merely declined to hear the case so the lower court ruling stands.
Furthermore, the mother was not fired from her job; she resigned. Now she may have resigned under some duress, but she did resign. Since she resigned, she has no basis to file a wrongful termination suit.
