Hi Hoda, How frustrating for you and mother. I applaud you for respecting the mother's need. I'm a big fan of the Starter SNS in the hospital and the SNS after discharge. What is the mother's nursing goal? If it is breastfeeding, regardless of the food, I would not increase the pumping frequency but use SNS with every feeding. The baby will learn that he can get fed at the breast and that it is a safe place to be. Increasing the pumping frequency has the potential of increasing her stress level. Was she able to tell you what was different while she was away that can be replicated at home?
Christine
