Thanks for thinking that through and questioning the connection the abstract itself, at least, made between prematurity and expression. Of course, if someone is induced, the baby's weeks of gestation is shorter than if natural onset of labor occurred!!!
The thought that went through my own mind was whether or not a usable quantity of colostrum could be collected if hand expression (not pumping) were to occur just a few days before term (or induction) and continue at, say, 90 minute intervals during labor???It might even contribute to the effectiveness of the induction if other medical risks did in fact, call for induction.
(There was an article in 1975 about Israeli multiparas whose inductions were actually accomplished with breast pumping at intervals.)
