In addition to having baby assessed for possible tongue tie (and high palate is a red flag for such), has she been breastfeeding using a more laid-back position? I'd think a laid-back position would better support mom's back, and gravity would better support baby's body so mom wouldn't have to do as much. Gravity may also help baby achieve and sustain a deeper latch. She may need initial demonstration of the various ways baby can be positioned, e.g. modified cradle (most used), clutch/football, across chest, straddle, etc. to find a variation of laid-back positioning that works for her and her baby.

Her ped says baby has a high palate. What nursing position do you think might work best for her as far as comfort, but also that would help a baby with latch challenges?
