I have a mom who has been battling thrush for three months. She is
exclusively pumping. She sterilizes all of her parts nightly. She also
washes anything that touches her breasts or the baby's mouth in hot water
and/or boils it nightly. She and baby are both taking probiotics. We have
tried gentian violet, APNO, diflucan. She has not taken any antibiotics,
nor has her baby. It is present in both of them. Gentian violet worked
briefly for her, but then it came back as soon as she stopped using it. It
has never cleared fully in her baby. She is desperate to get rid of this.
I've though of GSE, but I've heard such mixed results. Any ideas? Is GSE
the way to go?
Thanks in advance!

I had a client back as an intern who had what she thought was persistent yeast. I don't know if it actually was, but this is what she did:
Eliminated all sugars and white bread, rice, potatoes from her diet.
Drank pau d'arco tea daily.
Ate garlic daily.
She used gentian violet for a few days, but stopped due to concerns about oral ulcers or something, I forget exactly.
Took probiotics and ate yogurt daily. There are probiotics for infants, though I don't remember if she directly gave any to her baby.
It took a few weeks to entirely go away, maybe 3-5 weeks.
