Good afternoon Ladies, I am a hospital based LC with about 4000 births a year, with a very diverse population. I have been approached by one of the mid-wives about the use or over use of our postpartum pain medications. She wants to gather some research or data about what others are doing for pain management with VAGINAL deliveries. Most everyone has the expectation of getting pain management medications, such as Lortab. She would like to see us decrease the use of this to OTC analgesics and other pain management for perineal care. If you could let me know what the norm is in your area it would be helpful to share your responses.
