Summary: Pain started around 3.5 months. The pain is searing, hot, sharp.
Most intense after feeding on affected side. Pain is deep and moves around.
Pain lasts
1-2 hrs lessening over time. Pressure helps. Many herbal remedies tried and
an herbal (galactagogue) tea blend also seems to help.
Here are some thoughts:
- could this be an abscess? I wouldn't think pressure would help, I would
think pressure would hurt. So not sure about this. An ultrasound could be
done to rule this out.
- could this be nerve pain, "pinched" nerve, or neuromuscular? Seeing what
positions mother and baby are in could be informative, especially since it
started when baby was older. Mother may very well be straining her neck,
chest, breast could be twisted, pulled. Chiropractic or CST could help, and
ensuring mother and baby are very well supported and comfortable.
- would mother be willing to try around the clock ibuprofen per label
directions while the above issues are ruled out?
- castor oil compresses or other compresses (potato?) of which I am not
well informed but have read of this on lactnet before. Might be Jennifer
Tow who is expert here?
