I agree with Katherine's response although the results vary. Many times the
family just isn't ready for the information. You could be the first person
to tell them something is wrong. Up until then, mother was likely blaming
herself. I do mention that revision is much less intrusive than
circumcision.
I'm part of a project educating about TT and my project partner started a
couple of Facebook groups. One is for Advocates, more on the professional
side and the other is for families. It seems that once the mothers connect
with others in similar situations, they are more open to revision but there
are so many factors involved.
I work at WIC as a Peer Counselor. Many times, my conversation with a
family is the only substantive conversation we ever have. I find many
families will take the info and handouts (we created an info sheet on TT)
and go off to research and digest the info. I have to leave it up to them
to decide what they will do. It is a frustrating situation and I remind
myself that it is their decision. I offer the information, they decide what
to do with it.
