thank you for your reasoned responses, ladies. It reminds me that I am in the green, lovely bubble of the Greater Seattle Metropolitan Area, where we have several doctors with the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine teaching and working with us and our clients, a superb Children's Hospital clinic, excellent IBCLCs who largely work together collegially, most of whom came through LLLI so are mostly trained on the same page, pediatricians who are nearly universally supportive of breastfeeding and are quick to refer out to an IBCLC, a city and state law protecting the right to breastfeed anywhere anytime, and a general public attitude of "Duh, of course you breastfeed."
So I'm totally naive and sheltered. Thank you for bringing me back to reality of how things work outside my bubble! I apologize if I offended anyone, and I'm glad I didn't post my rant on Time!! Thanks for listening and being gentle with me. I promise to be professional from now on.

(and, I do recognize and appreciate the <information> in the article. IGT and hypoplasia are underrecognized and under supported, and shedding some light on it is terrific). ok, done now.
Warmly,
Betsy Hoffmeister, IBCLC, LLLI
West Seattle, WA
